The Sketch bathroom truly is a weird and wonderful place and so at odds with the Gallery decor but I love the colourful sense of fun it has. Of course no visit to Sketch is complete without the obligatory trip to and photograph of the toilets.

Special mention should go to our waitress Suzanna who was absolutely wonderful answering all of our questions about the restaurant and the design. The design is all part of a long-term programme of artist-conceived restaurants at the iconic London venue and this design will only stay in place for another year I believe.
David has also designed the china that the afternoon tea is served on which features his quirky black drawings and all of which is available to buy too. 239 new pieces of work line the walls and form the largest group of original drawings David Shrigley has ever exhibited. The whole room has been designed by India Mahdavi who has redesigned the gallery to support artist David Shrigleys work which features on the walls. From the deco style pink chairs to the copper lamps and bar to the simple black and white illustrations that adorned the wall I loved all of it. The whole look of the Gallery is so cool. We both also agreed that when the cake stand first arrived we didn’t think it looked like enough to fill us up but by the end neither of us could actually finish all the cakes and had to take them away in a box (plus some extra marshmallows) We drank a really nice vanilla tea which we both really liked which is funny as my other half isn’t usually a fan of tea. Other desserts included a really tasty chocolate gateau and the yummiest of homemade marshmallows. The afternoon tea is unlimited so you can order more of any of the sandwiches you like (which we did) before you move on to the desserts.įirst up were the scones which also come warm and were massive!! I adore scones they are my favourite bit of afternoon tea and these were especially good. The afternoon tea consists of sandwiches including a gorgeous mozzarella and pesto panini which comes warm and wrapped in paper and ribbon. I booked us both in for the Sketch afternoon teaonline and on the day we were treated to a cheeky glass of champers too which was just lovely.
I’d seen Instagrams a plenty of the pretty pink gallery and of course the amazing toilets so it was top of my list of places to visit. Sketch London has been on my Things To Do In London list for a while now so I knew I had to go when me and the other half had a short break in London a few weeks ago.
